Embarking on your Everest adventure? Here's a quick guide to luggage allowances for flights to Lukla:

Limited Luggage, Limitless Adventure: Due to small aircraft capacity, Lukla flights have stricter baggage restrictions compared to larger airports. Passengers are allocated a total of 15 kg divided into:

      • Check-in baggage: 10 kg for your main luggage.
      • Hand-carry bag: 5 kg for your essential carry-on items.

Going Overweight? No Problem (for a Fee): Exceeding the weight limit incurs a nominal fee between USD $1 and $3 per extra kilogram.

Pack Smart, Travel Happy: Remember, these restrictions apply to most mountain destinations like Jomsom and Phaplu. Packing light is crucial for a smoother check-in process and a more comfortable trek.

Climbing Everest comes with adventure, and Lukla flights are no exception! Here's what to expect:

Unpredictable Weather, Unwavering Safety: Lukla Airport's high elevation and unique location mean weather can be unpredictable. A short runway with a cliff edge demands strict safety protocols. Airlines meticulously check departure and arrival weather conditions. Even airborne flights from Kathmandu may be diverted if Lukla weather deteriorates. Your safety is paramount.

Flight Delays are Common: Expect potential delays any time of year. While spring and autumn experience fewer cancellations, monsoon (June-September) and winter see a higher chance of disruptions. Airlines will reschedule you on the next available flight.

Embrace Flexibility: Flight delays are a natural part of the Everest adventure. Be prepared for potential schedule changes. Instead of frustration, view it as an opportunity to acclimatize or explore Lukla's charming town.
